Visual Discrimination Pack for Critical Thinking - Free Ramadhan Special (ENDED)

As we all probably know, paying attention to details is a very important aspect of learning. To develop this skill, it is crucial for children to be introduced to activities that involve matching, spotting differences on objects, sorting, puzzles, opposites, ordering (putting objects in order), and similar activities.

Visual discrimination is needed to notice big and subtle differences. It helps people notice the color, size, position, and forms of images and objects. It also helps children with reading letters, words, and eventually sentences and stories. When teaching children how to read the alphabet letters, having the ability to differentiate similar looking letters will improve and speed up their reading journey. Some letters are very similar, which can cause the little ones some confusions. The same is true for numbers. So improving children's visual discrimination skill through various activities is very important.

I've put together a pack of three different visual discrimination activities to help you kick start  this crucial learning journey with your child. Because this is a Ramadhan Special, you are receiving this whole pack value of £4.99 £3.99 for absolutely free until after Ramadhan 2018, in shaa Allah.

What does the pack content?
  1. 4 Levels of visual discrimination cards, 23 in total; levels get a bit more challenging as you progress
  2. 1 matching mat
  3. 4 puzzles
  4. Total number of pages: 15

    • Laminate the objects and the mat
    • Cut out the objects
     c) How to Arrange the Puzzles:
    • Print both pages on A4 card stocks

    • Cut out the puzzle pieces following the lines
    How to Use/Play:
    1. Visual Discrimination Cards: Start with level one. Ask the child to identify the object that is different. After mastering that, ask him/her what makes it different. Move to the next level as the child progresses.
    2. Matching Mat: Ask the child to place the cards on the matching images

If your child is very young, you could start with the matching mat, move on to the puzzles, then the flash cards in shaa Allah.

    Bonus
Here's a hands-on project you can also put together for your student/child. It's a visual discrimination project as well. It's basically matching, but a bit more complex because some of the images are very similar. The child would need to differential each image and put the correct one in the corresponding hole.

How to Set It Up and Play:
    1. You would need: A shoe box, box cutter, self adhesive stickers of your choice (make sure they are doubled), storage bag to keep the pieces together. If you don't find stickers you like, print something from the internet. In which case you would need to cut them out with a pair of scissors, glue them, and laminate the other ones.
    2. Stick the stickers on the lid of the box
    3. Cut out holes big enough for the stickers to go through
    4. Decorate as desired (optional)
    5. Play: Put the matching image through the correct hole
I hope this pack and bonus will be beneficial to you. I would really appreciate your opinion after you use it with your child, in shaa Allah. Barakah Allahu feekum. May Allah make us all reach Ramadhan and be of the successful ones.

    Limited FREEBIES: Course Curriculum Planner

If you're a homeschooler or plan on homeschooling, then you know that failing to plan is to plan to fail. Planning is very crucial when it comes to almost everything in life. As an educator, the last thing you want is to start looking for what to cover for the day at the last minute. The best thing is having the whole week, month, or even months planned to save time and avoid mental torture. If you're looking for a free planner, then this printable may be for you.

There are many different types of planners on the net, and each person is looking for something different that suits his/her needs. This planner is specifically for planning individual courses at a time. If you are a home educator who prefers setting up her own curricula instead of out-of-the-box curricula, then I believe this planner would be perfect for you depending on how you plan. It could also be used for a ready-made curriculum if you plan on not strictly following the curriculum planner. You can also use it to mix a ready-made curriculum with supplementary resources.

    How to use this planner:
    1. Print as many copies of each sheet depending on how many courses you wish to plan for.
    2. Write the information of the course such as the name of the course, the grade level, year, goals for the course, resources you plan on using, total cost, and a detailed description of the course.
    3. Make a yearly plan for each month using the yearly planner page. Write down the lessons you wish to cover for each month, and resources to go to.
    4. On the monthly planner page, write in much more details the lesson you wish to cover for each week and days of the week (i.e. books, pages).
    5. You may use this planner as your only homeschooling planner or additionally use a weekly planner for multiple courses while referring to your planned courses from this planner.
    6. You can also use this planner as an independent learners' planner. If you have bigger kids who learn independently, they can use this planner (after you have written the course details) and check the accomplished lessons as they go.

*You can laminate the pages to reuse them multiple times if you wish. You can also write on it using erasable pens.

How I plan on using this planner:
    1. Plan out all my courses using this planner since I prefer making my own curricula.
    2. Use a weekly planner for multiple courses for my day to day planner; but refer to my course planner to see what the next lessons throughout the year are inShaa Allah.

I hope this planner will benefit you inShaa Allah. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will respond as soon as possible inShaa Allah.
